As the holidays draw near, students are eagerly awaiting fall and winter break. However, before they can relax, they must face the last hurdle of the semester, final exams. Flik has simple easy tips that can help you avoid exam stress this semester.

Get Plenty of Rest

Cramming late into the night may seem like a great idea, but your body needs 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Anything less and you are risking putting yourself in a sleep-deficit. During sleep-deficit you actually become less focused and less productive. So, make sure you are keeping a regular, healthy sleep schedule.

Go for a Walk

Take regular breaks from your studies and get up and get active. Walking is a great way to get fresh air and give your mind a break. Come back to the textbooks refreshed and ready to intake even more information than you could before.

Schedule Something Fun for Later

Having something to look forward to is a great way to remind yourself that exams are not the end of the world. Keep your spirits high by planning something you enjoy to celebrate the end of finals. This is also a great way to avoid the exam “post-mortem” that stress you feel after the exam about how well you did.

Speak to Someone

Test anxiety is real, and it can affect your day to day life if you are not careful. Seek out your school’s counselor or other services that you can reach out to if the stress becomes too much to handle. If you are uncomfortable reaching out to a counselor, reach out to someone you trust. A family member or friend can be a great support system during the end of the semester.
